The Ellwood house on the 642 acre estate of J. Horace Lacy, the brother of the
Reverend Beverly Tucker Lacy, Lt. General Thomas J. Jackson's Chaplain.
Jackson's arm is buried a short distance from the house in the family cemetery.
Ellwood served as a Confederate Hospital during the Battle of Chancellorsville and
ironically a Union Hospital during the Battle of the Wilderness.
