From the right in this photo is the location of the north woods from where Union General Joseph Hooker launched his attacks
on the early morning of September 17, 1862. To the left mid-ground, is the location of the infamous Miller's Cornfield.
On the far left are the remnants of the East Woods, the site where General Mansfield launched
his assaults to follow up on General Hooker's efforts.
