Confederate Right Flank at Antietam / Sharpsburg looking down over the grounds of the Otto Farm. Major General Ambrose E. Burnside's 9th Corps surged towards
this point in the afternoon of the battle. His lines extended from past the point where the road reaches the top of the hill on your left and past the tree line
on your right. As Union victory seemed certain, CSA Major General Ambrose Powell Hill, whose men had marched 17 miles from Harpers Ferry,
slammed into Burnside's exposed left flank. Green inexperienced Union troops gave way and Burnsides' line collapsed.
