Nephew of Confederate President Jefferson Davis, CSA Brigadier General Joseph R. Davis' brigade
of Mississippi and North Carolina regiments took the Railroad Cut but was later repulsed by
the 6th Wisconsin, the 14th Brooklyn, and the 95th New York.
