The 61st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Monument on Wolf's Hill.
As a regiment in Brigadier General Thomas H. Neill's 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division,
in General Sedgwick's 6th Corps, they helped to secure the far right of the
Union line at Gettysburg. A marker nearby this monument reads:
"The Brigade by order of Major Gen. Slocum crossed Rock
Creek and took position on the extreme right of the Army making
connection with the cavalry pickets and encountered and checked
the advancing Confederate sharpshooters and skirmishers and
remained until the close of the battle.
Casualties Killed 1 Officer 1 Man Wounded 11 Men Captured
or Missing 2 Men Total 15."
The small National Park Service sign to the left of the monument reads,
"Right of the Infantry
of the
Army of the Potomac."
