The 85 foot tall Confederate Monument, erected by the US Government in 1910,
to honor the southern soldiers who died at Fort Delaware on Pea Patch Island.
In the foreground are 8 of the 13 headstones for German prisoners of war who died
while in captivity at Fort Dix New Jersey in World War II.
