Standing near the George Weikert Farm Buildings facing north along Cemetery Ridge. On July 2nd 1863, Lieutenant Colonel Freeman McGilvery rushed
forward any artillery batteries he could find to fill the gap in the Union lines left by the forces sent forward to support General Sickle's Corps.
On July 3rd, McGilvery's guns savaged the Confederates of Pickett's Charge when they passed just north of this ground,
on the other side of the slight rise (covered by the brown grass) that concealed his artillery.
