To the right inside the fenced enclosure are the remains of the Crater.
To the left, the indentations indicate the locations of the Confederate counter-mines,
their efforts to locate the source of the sounds of digging.
In the mid-ground you can see the remains of Confederate earthworks.
This photograph looks in the direction of the Union lines and the entrance of the tunnel
which lead to the chamber where the charges were laid.
