This site is constantly being updated with new pages and pictures added all the time. Below, you'll find a list of the updates so that you can easily find them. Just click on the links included in the individual updates to see what's new!

As this site evolves, some of the links below may change. If you find a broken link, I would be grateful if you let me know. If you cannot find what you wish, please try to in-site search engine in the menu to the left.
 



April 2, 2010:
Added a photo to the page on Kershaw's men at the Rose Farm.

January 10, 2010:
Revised the section on the fighting at Spotsylvania including a new page entitled The Reaper's Tally. Also updated one page on the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox.

August 2, 2009:
Added a pictures of the gravesites of Major General John Fulton Reynolds and of Major General Winfield Scott Hancock.

February 15, 2009:
Added to the Video and other Media section of the Resources and Links page, specifically adding links for podcasts.


January 17 - 19, 2009:
Made extensive revisions to the section concerning The Battle of 2nd Manassas / Bull Run including adding a page on The Battle of Cedar Mountain.


January 1 - 12, 2009:
Made extensive revisions to standardize the menus of all pages on this site. Also added pages on Monroe / Stuart Hill at the Manassas / Bull Run Battlefield and the Death of General JEB Stuart.


December 18 - 23, 2008:
Made extensive revisions to the sections covering all three days of the Battle of Gettysburg and the Battle of Antietam. Also edited format to ensure consistency across pages.


December 12 - 14, 2008:
Continued to make extensive revisions / additions to the section on the Battle of Fredericksburg including adding two new pages. One page covered CSA Major John Pelham and the other the infamous canal ditch. Also continued updating the section on Battle of Chancellorsville and added a page to the Battle of Antietam section entitled, Lincoln Removes McClellan.


December 6 & 7, 2008:
Added to and re-edited the section on the Battle of Chancellorsville, adding new images, quotes, and text.


November 28 - 30, 2008:
Added three pages to the Fredericksburg section: Burnside Takes Command, The Sacking of Fredericksburg, and The Impact on Civilians.
Added images to the pages on The Upper Crossing and The Ruins of Fredericksburg.
Also added text and quotes to many of the other Fredericksburg pages.
Validated all external web links and the html for the 173 pages changed since the last validation.


November 20 & 23, 2008:
Updated the pictures on multiple Battle of 1st Fredericksburg pages including: Prospect Hill, Meade's Pyramid, Waves of Assaults, the Town of Fredericksburg, and the Fredericksburg National Cemetery.


November 16, 2008:
Added a section on the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox Court House.


November 9, 2008:
Updated the photos on the Fredericksburg panoramas page.


November 5, 2008:
Updated the photos on the page concerning views at Arlington National Cemetery.


September 26 & 27, 2008:
Added a page concerning Generals Meade's and Lee's offers to resign after the Battle of Gettysburg. Includes the responses of Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis. Also continued to update images throughout the site.


September 15, 2008:
Re-editing and updating pictures throughout the site. Validated html for the 400 pages changed / edited since March 9, 2008.


August 10, 2008:
Added a section on Finn's Point National Cemetery to the page on Confederate Prisoners from the Battle of Gettysburg at Fort Delaware.


August 3, 2008:
Added a page on Confederate Prisoners from the Battle of Gettysburg at Fort Delaware.


June 28 - July 20, 2008:
Added several pages, images, and panoramas concerning Wolf's Hill, Neill Avenue, and the 61st Pennsylvania Infantry.
Fixed an error on Confederate Order of Battle page, specifically under the section for Wofford's Brigade (For some reason I had the 10th Georgia listed twice under Wofford's command and once under Semmes. The 10th of course belongs under Semmes.
Throughout this time, spent much effort correcting and adjusting the web site's html for ease of search and web site usage. (Not exactly exciting but I hope it proves helpful.)


June 22, 2008:
Added a page on Five Forks.


May 27, 2008:
Updated the page concerning the conflict between the 20th Maine and the 15th Alabama.


May 21, 2008:
Added a quote on President Lincoln's definition of Liberty.


March 17 - 22, 2008:
Continued to update the sections concerning Day 2 at Gettysburg, Day 3 at Gettysburg, Antietam, and Spotsylvania along with the page concerning Chancellorsville casualties. Updated the Site Map page which lists the images taken during or shortly after the war.


March 7 - 9, 2008:
Updated the pages concerning Day 2 at Gettysburg with updates specifically to the page concerning Major General George Gordon Meade. Also updated the section concerning The Battle of 2nd Manassas. These updates continue to involve the reformatting, adding, and repositioning of pages which include images from the 1800s. Also validated the html for all 806 pages of this site.

March 2, 2008:
Updated the pages concerning Day 2 at Gettysburg. These updates mostly involved the continuing process of reformatting, adding, and repositioning of pages which include images from the 1800s.

February 22 - 26, 2008:
Updated the pages concerning the Death of Stonewall Jackson, The Battle of 2nd Manassas, The Battle of Antietam, The Battle of Fredericksburg, The Battle of Chancellorsville, Day 1 at Gettysburg, and those discussing Perspectives of the Civil War. These updates mostly involved the reformatting, adding, and repositioning of pages which include images from the 1800s.

February 16 - 18, 2008:
Updated the page concerning the United States Colored Troops and added two pages concerning slavery ( The Conflict over Slavery & Slave Narratives ).

February 2, 3, & 10, 2008:
Began updating the section concerning the 2nd day of the Battle of Gettysburg  Also checked and resolved broken links.

January 12, 2008:
Continued to update the entire set of pages for the 1st day of the Battle of Gettysburg

January 4 & 5, 2008:
Updated several pages concerning the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg including the pages entitled Setting the Stage for Conflict and General John Buford.
Also updated the Sources page.

December 1 & 2, 2007:
Updated the entire Perspective section including adding a page concerning the Hopewell Iron Furnace National Historic Site. This includes multiple new images and a brief video clip of their fully functional water wheel.

November 18 to 22, 2007:
Posted several new pages on the Battle of Cold Harbor section. Also validated and updated all the links throughout the entire site including the Links and Resources section. {Dead-links.com is an excellent free resource for checking links over an entire site with one click.}

November 11, 2007:
Updated photographs and content of the Battle of Gettysburg Panoramas: Day 3 section.

October 14, 2007:
Updated photographs and content of the Battle of Gettysburg Panoramas: Day 1 and Battle of Gettysburg Panoramas: Day 3.

September 29 & 30, 2007:
Updated photographs and content of the Battle of Gettysburg: Day 1 section and the Georgia and Texas Soldiers page on the Battle of Antietam.

September 16, 2007:
Continued with the updating of the Battle of Antietam section and the Eastern Theater Panoramas.

September 8, 2007:
Again updated the Battle of Antietam section and added more new Antietam Panoramas.

September 1 & 2, 2007:
Updated the Battle of Antietam section and added several new Antietam Panoramas.

August 22, 2007:
Updated the Battle of Spotsylvania section.

August 18 & 20, 2007:
Updated photos and some text on the Battle of the Wilderness pages. Also added to the Chancellorsville and Spotsylvania Panoramas and to the page on the wounding of General Stonewall Jackson. Began the Battle of Spotsylvania section.

August 11 & 12, 2007:
Revised the Eastern Theater Panoramas pages, adding pages on Petersburg and Appomattox and replacing several pictures in the sections concerning Chancellorsville and the Wilderness.
Added a page about the Final Place of Rest for General Robert E. Lee in the Chapel at Washington and Lee University. Also added some pictures to the USCT page.

July 14, 2007:
Added a page which includes a portion of Mary Bedinger Mitchell's writings on the Battle of Antietam.

June 14 & 15, 2007:
Completely revised the Perspective pages, making several additions and updates, and combining the Honored Dead pages with that section. Also updated many pictures throughout the site, including contemporary Library of Congress images from the 1860s.

June 2 & 3, 2007:
Continued to update, revise, and add to the section concerning Day 1 of the Battle of Gettysburg.

May 26 & 28, 2007:
Created a section for some of the web site author's Original Short Stories concerning the American Civil War. Also edited several pages and added a page to the section on Day 1 of the Battle of Gettysburg.

May 06, 2007:
Added a page concerning the grim realities of war and the casualties of the Battle of Gettysburg.

April 28 & 29, 2007:
Updated several pages in the Antietam and Gettysburg sections.

April 21, 22, & 24, 2007:
Made multiple, significant revisions throughout this site. There are too many to list but most focus on the three days of the Battle of Gettysburg and the Resources and Links page.

April 08, 2007:
I've made some minor changes throughout the first several months of this year that did not bear listing. However, the section concerning Day 1 of the Battle of Gettysburg has had major revisions and additions. These are not yet complete but are at a point where they can be posted.
